I am riding across America to raise funds to support St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Ever since I was young, I dreamed of traveling across the US on a bike. When my senior swim season was canceled and classes were delayed until early February, I decided to use the newfound time to make this dream come true by attempting to bike from San Diego to Jacksonville, Florida in 23 days.
I also felt a calling to take the opportunity to make a difference and give back. This year, I have watched multiple close friends and family members undergo cancer treatments. Their resilience is inspiring, and I have marveled at how new treatments have improved their odds.
As a nationally renowned cancer center, I chose St. Jude because they are researching the next generation of children’s cancer treatments and they provide that treatment plus housing, travel and food for free to all of their patients. Giving no-cost treatment is an incredible gift, enabling the child to receive the best care available and allowing the parents to focus on caring for their child and family.
The goal is to raise $23,000, representing $1,000 for each day that I am on the bike. My journey will start on December 30, 2020 and if all goes to plan, will end on January 21, 2020. You can follow my progress on Instagram @bike_for_st_jude. If you have any questions, please email mdm4@princeton.edu
100% of your donation will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (I am covering my own personal expenses for this trip).
My ride begins December 30th, 2020. Please join me and help make a difference. Together we can help St. Jude care for children and advance the science of cancer care.
