Why I'm fundraising for St. Jude
Hello everyone, I am Ethan Guo, a pilot with some ambitious plans.
I started learning to fly an airplane when I was 13 years old. Before that, I spent most of my time practicing hockey and working on personal STEM projects. I had just discovered flying and learned that the youngest pilot to have circumnavigated the world was 19 years old, and I had six years to break this world record. Finding the joy and knowledge in aviation genuinely fascinating, I decided not only to start learning but also to bring meaning to my learning experience by aiming to break the record.
As a kid, I loved STEM, and I used to assemble my computers and eventually started my own small company that made computers. At that time, I also wanted to inspire and help fund more kids to study STEM so they could learn crucial skills to make their own unique positive marks in this world.
Unfortunately, my cousin, who is the same age as me, developed stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. As a young man, I watched the disease affect the people closest to me, such as my grandparents and aunts, little by little. Since then, I decided to do what I could for Cancer research. In order to raise funds for research and international awareness, I decided that by breaking the record, I could get the necessary attention to influence and help as many people as possible who are suffering from the disease. I also hope to inspire through the spirit of challenging the impossible and pushing the limits.
Follow along with me as I travel the world and raise funds and awareness of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
