Walter ‘Skip’ Mischke departed peacefully from the world surrounded by his family on October 17,2019. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Massapequa, NY after he got married to raise his family. Skip worked for the LIRR as a foreman on the third rail for 32 years. In addition, he served in the United States Navy for three years in the 60’s. Also, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Massapequa Fire Department. Skip and Kathy moved to Midlothian, VA in 2008. They have been married for 50 years. He was a loving father to his son Walter and daughter-in-law Judy and his daughter Jennifer and his son-in-law Nick. He was an amazing grandfather to his four grandchildren, Morgan, Harris, Colton and Trent and two step grandchildren Morgan and Maddie. He is also survived by his three sisters, Terry and her husband Jim, Carol and her husband Alan and Kathy. He will receive visitors on Sunday, October 20 from 4-6 and Monday, October 21 from 5-7 at Bennett’s Funeral Home at 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832. His life will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 22 at 11am and then he will be laid to rest at the Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery at Amelia at 1pm on October 22.
