As most of you know my daughter, Holly, died of Acute Myeloid Leukemia on November 17, 2024. When I recently was asked by my sorority sister, Dotti Keagy, to do fund-raising for the Virtual St. Judes Walk-Tampa on behalf of the NAPLES AREA TRIDELTA ALUMNAE CHAPTER, I said absolutely YES.
I know first hand the devastating reaches of cancer.
Throughout Holly's 2 year courageous battle, she was supported by so many friends and family, she was surrounded by dedicated, compassionate medical teams. We all prayed and hoped for the right treatment and cure. It was not available. But through St. Jude research today, they currently have helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancers to 80%!! By donating to our fundraising, you are helping to make this continuing effort possible. Last year this team raised $25,477 to support St Judes Children Research Hospital, the overall goal is the same. My efforts and YOUR generosity will go towards achieving this goal again.
Because of generous donors, families never receive a bill from St Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - so they can focus on helping their children to live. Holly was 35, not a child, but she was my child, and no parent should ever lose a child.
Many of you know I do not do social media, but you are welcome to share this to others on your platforms to help meet and exceed our goal.
Thank you for helping me to honor Holly’s memory and support the lifesaving work happening at St Jude.
Forever Grateful,
Joy Spencer-Fuller
