Why We Support St. Jude
Team Brandyn
Brandyn was just a couple of weeks shy of his second birthday when he was diagnosed with Stage 4, high-risk neuroblastoma (NB). We walk in his memory and in honor of his infectious giggle, beautiful smile, love of big trucks, hugs, and the color red. ❤
Brandyn celebrated his second birthday at St. Jude and fought bravely for nine months before passing away at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on September 14, 1999, surrounded by his family.
Since its founding, St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from just 20% to more than 80%. At the time of Brandyn’s diagnosis, the survival rate for children with high-risk neuroblastoma was about 40%. Today, it is approximately 50%. While that progress gives us hope, there is still so much more research to be done.
One of the things that makes St. Jude so special is that it freely shares the breakthroughs it makes with doctors and scientists around the world. Every child saved at St. Jude can help lead to discoveries that save thousands more children everywhere.
If you are able, any donation—no matter how small—is deeply appreciated. Your support helps fund the research that we hope will give more children the chance Brandyn never had.
If you are unable to make a donation, there is another simple way to honor Brandyn: please consider wearing something red—a piece of clothing, jewelry, or even a red ribbon—on the day of our walk or anytime during the month of September (Sept is childhood cancer awareness month). ❤
Thank you for remembering Brandyn, supporting St. Jude, and helping us keep his memory—and the hope for a cure—alive.
