As the faculty advisor for ETSU's Bucs for St. Jude and a member of the St. Jude Walk East Tennessee committee, I've had the privilege of seeing firsthand how our community comes together to support children and families facing some of life's toughest challenges. Our Bucs for St. Jude students do more than raise money. They organize meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, coordinate donation drives for the affiliate clinic, volunteer at special events, and work throughout the year to support children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. I've watched students dedicate their time, talents, and hearts to making life a little easier for these families, and it reminds me why this work matters so much.
What makes this mission especially meaningful to me is that the impact is local. Through the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Niswonger Children's Hospital in Johnson City, children in our region have access to world-class care and treatment connected to the groundbreaking research happening at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
