We're back at it again.. Fundraising for St. Jude! Six years ago I was introduced to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through a Radiothon. Since then, I've done all that I can to help this organization that is not only saving the lives of children but bringing back hope to families.
A couple years ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Memphis, Tennesse, speak on behalf of the radio station and visit the hospital. It truly is a beacon of hope. When you walk into this building, you don't feel like you're walking into a hospital, you see colors and drawing from the patients. You see smiling faces and opportunity for a positive outcome. You literally can feel the mood change, in a good way.
While your fundraising dollars will be going towards treatment and research for childhood cancer, it will also be going towards making the lives of these children and their families more normal during this very abnormal time. You may have heard this before, but St. Jude doesn't charge a single dime to their patients. Their thought process is the full focus for these families is for making sure their child is healthy, so bills shouldn't have to be an added stress on their mind. That includes treatment, shelter, anything they may need while they're in Memphis receiving their treatment.
Things you may not know that St. Jude provides for the children - Prom. The opportunity for one night these kids can feel as if they are living a normal life. Christmas presents. These are for the entire family, so the holiday doesn't have to feel different because they are in a different place. Food. If there is something special your child is looking for, a taste of home, they will make it. They literally will do anything to make sure these children feel as comfortable as possible.
In the past six years, I personally have raised over $3,000 for this organization, all thanks to generous donors, as well as local businesses that have contributed to the cause. Last year I dedicated my fundraiser to my late grandmother, Mary, who donated just as much as I did, and this year I want to dedicate it to her again.
Any donation is a step in the right direction for ending childhood cancer and helping the families who are already battling it. Even if you could share this fundraiser, you're helping to spread the word about all of the wonderful things that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is doing.
Thank you for supporting my fundraiser and the lifechanging work happening at St. Jude today.
