Thanks for your interest in FedEx Purple Eagle - Olivia for St. Jude!
Olivia
7 years old
glioma brain tumor
Tennessee
Olivia’s dad, Roman, works remotely for his job as an IT scrum master for FedEx. So when his boss called him into the office for an in-person meeting recently, he felt a little surprised.
That surprise only grew when he entered the meeting room to see it filled with members of leadership, who were there to let him know they planned to name a FedEx Cessna Caravan plane after his youngest daughter.
They explained the decades-long partnership between FedEx and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and how every year, FedEx puts the name of a St. Jude patient on the side of a working airplane as part of the FedEx Purple Eagle program. The program honors a St. Jude patient who is a child or grandchild of a FedEx team member. The plane is dedicated during the week of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the Memphis stop on the PGA tour.
FedEx has donated more than $65 million for St. Jude kids since joining the St. Jude mission in 1986.
Olivia receives ongoing care from St. Jude for a grape-sized glioma brain tumor on her optic nerve.
“I never expected Olivia to be chosen for this, but it’s great that she was,” said Roman. “It makes me very proud to be a part of FedEx and be involved with St. Jude as well.”
