Before moving to Louisiana, I really never heard much about St. Jude Children's Hospital. After retiring from the Air Force and moving here, I soon learned it's a BIG DEAL here. Why? Because Louisiana has a disproportionate number of children with cancer. I was continually hearing radio-a-thons and seeing fundraisers. Fast forward, a few folks at my gym started a local fundraising team for St. Jude. I supported and joined in when I could.
In 2020, I would meet my first family impacted by this horrible disease. Because of St Jude, young Emma Gracie Goldsboro just celebrated 3 years NED (No Evidence of Disease). Now I've met other families impacted and the parents of children who are at the hospital right now. I can't imagine their journey.
I vowed I would always try to do something toward fundraising or supporting St. Jude fundraisers. I have been selected to represent St. Jude at the 2024 London Marathon! This is extra special to me as my last assignment was in England. I am honored and thrilled to have this opportunity.
I have committed to raise a minimum of $10,000. With the support of my family & friends, I know it's possible. Even a few dollars helps!
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
