Lou was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. With her sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), she raised funds and awareness for St. Jude through local community events. Most notably, the luncheon auction that she had already began preparing for in November. Lou was extremely proud of the work that ESA did and her family continues to support and raise money for the cause in her honor.
