Why We Support St. Jude
Super RB Warriors
Making memories. Supporting a mission. That’s why our team has signed up to fundraise for the St. Jude Walk/Run. This September, we’re joining the nationwide movement to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and support those who need us most — the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
In 2016, our world was turned upside down. We got the word that no one wants to hear - CANCER.
We took our 2 ½ year old son Lucien in for what we thought was possibly an eye infection on February 1st. 3 different medical appointments later that day, we ended up us down at the Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute until 6 pm. In that time, we learned that Lucien had the rare eye cancer - Retinoblastoma.
Our happy, healthy little boy has a large tumor and a lot of floating pieces of tumor in his left eye. This type of cancerous tumor is typically detected by a camera flash - we were fortunate that we noticed this Friday night when the light of the lamp reflected very strangely in his left eye & moved fast to get him seen that following Monday.
Today, Lucien is a happy, healthy superhero, who is 9 years CANCER FREE!
Our team of superheroes that helped us get through our cancer journey was comprised of friends, family, and coworkers from Blue Technologies!
You can support by making a donation or joining our team! Can we count on your support?
When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent.
And because St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Thank you for supporting us and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today. Let’s cure childhood cancer. Together.
