Why We Support St. Jude
CharlotteStrong
In June of 2020, our family received news that no family should ever have to hear - "your daughter has cancer." From the moment of diagnosis, we did everything we could to find the best care and treatment options for Charlotte. Throughout our search, we continually came across St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as one of the top children's hospitals and international leader in pediatric cancer research and treatments. Ultimately, we chose to take Charlotte to St. Jude because they offered the best ways to treat her cancer while also trying to minimize any long-term side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Minimizing long term side effects of chemotherapy and radiation is critical because 95% of childhood cancer survivors have significant health-related issues due to the current treatment options available.
Aside from being a top ranked research hospital focused onchildhood cancer, St. Jude also provides care to patients and families without any cost to the child's family. Donations fallow families to focus on their children andnot on medical bills waiting for them in the mailbox. At St. Jude, thedoctors and nurses know all the children's names and the hospital doesn't feel like a traditional hospital at all. Despite cancer being the #1 cause of death by disease among children, only 4% of annual government spending on cancer research is directed towards treating childhood cancer. St Jude relies on donations in order to relentlessly pursue their mission of "No child should die in the dawn of life."
We will forever be grateful to St. Jude for everything that they havedone for Charlotte and our family. We hope you will join our team to walk a 5K and raise money to END childhood cancer!
