Why We Support St. Jude

St. Jude Walk/Run - Washington, DC

ChristopherStrong

Christopher was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a very aggressive brain tumor at 6 months old. Christopher was accepted as a St. Jude patient shortly after diagnosis. While there, Christopher underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and blood transfusions. The whole time while Christopher and I were there, I did not have worry about food, lodging or bills that my family would accrue for treatments, I could just focus on letting my child get better. His team of doctors and nurses really became our family. After almost 6 months, we got to come home and Christopher was considered NED(no evidence of disease). Unfortunately, 6 months later Christopher's cancer came back. His team at St. Jude were stead-fast on trying another option that had never been done on a child so young as Chris. Things seemed to be working fairly well. We were able to come home and celebrate Christopher's 2nd birthday! On Dec. 4th, 2020 a routine check up at St. Jude reveled that the cancer had came back once again. Sadly, that would be our last time at St. Jude and Christopher passed away at the children's hospital close to our home. I couldn't have been more blessed that St. Jude gave us more time with Christopher. I know that they have samples of his tumors that are being used to help more research to help fight the ugly disease he had so another family will never have to lose their child like we did.

Making memories. Supporting a mission. That’s why our team has signed up to fundraise for the St. Jude Walk/Run. This September, we’re joining the nationwide movement to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and support those who need us most — the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Can we count on your donation to support our team?

Since its founding 60 years ago, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent.

And because St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.

Thank you for supporting us and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today. Let’s cure childhood cancer. Together.
