Why We Support St. Jude

St. Jude Walk/Run - Philadelphia, PA

Braveheart

This November, I'm joining Co-Captain Judy Dlugosz and other wonderful friends at the Philly Navy Yard to support the nationwide movement to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness and support those who need us most — the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

Why Team Braveheart?

It takes courage to battle cancer. It takes strength and positivity to face such a challenge; always hoping, not really knowing--yet fighting just the same. Imagine being that brave as a child, or watching your child go through grueling treatments and remaining strong. Never losing hope. That's a brave heart.

Our Team's fundraising goal is modest and trust that we will exceed it.

$1700 provides just one day of IV chemo for a child with leukemia.  $64 will cover the cost of four platelet count blood tests. Treatment is expensive and every dollar helps.

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – so they can focus on helping their child live. Because of generous donors, St. Jude can provide children cutting-edge treatments not covered by insurance, at no cost to families.

Because of you, they get to hope…

On a personal note, I had a little cousin Johnny, who I never met.  He died at the age of two from leukemia in the late 1950's. There was nothing to be done--no substantial treatment, like there is today with the assistance and research by St Jude.

When St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, childhood cancer was largely considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and won't stop until no child dies from cancer. Thank you for supporting me, our Team and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude every day.

Please consider joining or making a donation to our team…

Let’s cure childhood cancer together.
