If you are unfamiliar with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the hospital is a pediatric treatment and research facility founded in 1962 by Danny Thomas in Memphis, TN. St. Jude was one of the first hospitals to cover the costs of their patients regardless of ability to pay, nationality, disability, age, race, or religion; all costs of a patient's visit are covered from travel to the hospital to treatment, housing, and food.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has also spearheaded the development of different modern medicines and treatments. When the hospital opened, the survival rate of childhood cancer was 20% -- today, the survival rate of childhood cancer is over 80% with some cancers having a survival rate of over 90%.
