Why we support St. Jude

St. Jude Walk/Run - Virtual

TeamK8 2023 K8s Supporting St.Jude Sand Volleybal

Why We Support St. Jude

I support St. Jude, because they gave the gift of Hope and Life to my beautiful daughter KateLynn Marie Beckman, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

A referral was sent to St.Jude and on September 27, 2018, the brain tumor team at St. Jude sent us an email advising that they were confident they could safely remove Kate’s brain tumor!! Tears fell down our cheeks….but it was the next line that took our breath away it said…  “Let Us Know If You Will Accept Our Help.” If we would accept their help?  What a humbling and grateful moment. We felt blessed beyond words they had a solution and were offering to help Kate.

➡✴Within 11 days of being accepted as a St. Jude's patient, our family, was emailed an itinerary and flown to the Danny Thomas Medical Center in Memphis Tennessee. From the moment Kate was accepted, our anxieties and fears began to lessen, but it was until we arrived on campus that we truly felt them disappear.

The staff at St. Jude is amazing! The second we arrived, we were welcomed with kind, compassionate, and positive faces. They gave us a tour of the Danny Thomas Medical Center and went over our itinerary of appointments for the week. There were no stones left unturned. They explained everything and made sure we had anything we needed to make us as comfortable as possible.

Words can not begin to describe the weight that St. Jude and its donors’ lift-off families. St. Jude provides transportation, lodging, food, and MEDICAL expenses for the patient and their family. This allows families to focus on their child’s health and spending time with one another. It is a gift that is invaluable, as was 10-11-18.

October 11, 2018,  “Bob,” (K8's name for her tumor) was removed by Doctor Klimo and his team at St. Jude. “BOB”, was then sent in to be tested for cancer. On October 19, 2018, we got the call that Kate’s tumor was benign, tears fell from my cheeks, as I yelled through the house the good news..

✳Now, 5⃣ years later, KateLynn has grown into a beautiful 14 year old young lady!

Kate has also made it her mission to raise awareness and donations for St. Jude.

➡K8 has a goal of raising at least $185,000 through her fundraisers before she graduates from high school.

You can support by making a donation or joining our team! Can we count on your support?

↪Over the years Kate has enjoyed being able to give back & Spread Hope by being a part of St.Jude Partners in Hope radiothon on Froggy 98.1, US92, and 98.5 the past 4 years.
