Last September Mia was diagnosed with Pleural Pulmonary Blastoma type 1R, which is a very rare childhood lung cancer. She had a multi-nodular cyst on her right lobes of her lungs that was causing her to not even use her right lobes to breathe. During her surgery the cyst, her middle and lower lobes on her right side were removed. She also tested positive for the Dicer 1 genetic mutation which is linked to the very rare cancer Mia has that can cause more cysts or blastomas to pop up on any of her organs. She is more susceptible to getting these blastomas the first two years after surgery hence why we are at St Jude every 3-6 months for check up scans and labs to make sure the cancer stays away. Any and all donations to St.Jude don’t just take the weight off families so they never have to pay a bill but also the research for these very rare cancers and genetic mutations to help find a cure and the root cause. any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Can I count on your donation to help me reach my goal?
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – so they can focus on helping their child live. Because of our generous donors, St. Jude can provide children cutting-edge treatments not covered by insurance, at no cost to families.
When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was largely considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer. Thank you for supporting me and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today.
Let’s cure childhood cancer. Together.
