My daughter Lakyn was 6 years old during her first diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma Alveolar subtype. She is FOXO1/PAX7 positive. My daughter completed VAC protocol during May 2022- April 2023 with 32 proton radiation rounds after 1st 6 week cycle during her initial treatment. St. Jude?s never sent us a bill.
We had NED for 12 months and her last post treatment scan in April 2025 showed two new tumors in areas away from the initial tumor. We are in year 3 of life after cancer diagnosis and continue to fight. My positive story is the ever growing faith and strength you will grow into. It?s hard, but we can do hard things for our babies. Take each day one hard thing at a time. Find your blessing in each day. My daughter will be 9 in November and we will have scans to see where the progress of treatment is. My daughter is on what doctors named ?Salvage Therapy? makes me think of the tumors as savages bc they won?t just follow suit and stay gone. We started her on hospice over the summer to help with all the appointments, medication needs and attempt to help manage symptoms. One of the shots she receives every three weeks is $15000. We have not received a bill from St Jude?s who continues to help us fight.
I?m joining the nationwide movement to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and support those who need us most ? the kids of St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital®. By participating in the St. Jude Walk, I am helping to cure childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Can I count on your donation to help me reach my goal?
Because of generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food ? so they can focus on helping their child live. By donating to my fundraising efforts, you are helping to make that possible.
Thank you for supporting me and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today.
