Why I Support St. Jude
This September, my daughter & I are joining the nationwide movement to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and support those who need us most — the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Values I hope to instill in my daughter's life are generosity and empathy. In pursuit of that, we will be walking in the St. Jude Walk/Run 5k alongside the the Philly Hiking Beauties. Leading up to the 5k, we are making an effort to help raise funds for the children and families of St. Jude.
My Journey to Motherhood and The Convictions I've Felt Since
This past year God has blessed me with the gift of life & continuity. When I look at my daughter, I see generational lineage & promise, a feeling I'm sure resonates with most parents. Something I was ill-prepared for was how agonizing and fragile your heart can feel when your child is going through discomfort or is feeling unwell. Worldwide 400,000 children and adolescents develop cancer each year. I cannot fathom what that experience is like. My prayer for these families is comfort, hope, provision and healing. St. Jude as an organization is a tangible answer to that prayer. Since opening its doors in 1962 St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% all while ensuring that parents never receive a bill from St. Jude throughout their Child's treatment, allowing them to be more present and champion their child's recovery.
Thank you for supporting me and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today.
