Why I support St. Jude:
I'm participating in the St. Jude Walk/Run for my fourth year with the Boston Tri Delta Alumnae Chapter! Last year, I reached my stretch fundraising goal to raise $1,700 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! This year, I hope to surpass my fundraising total from last year with an even more ambitious goal. I hope you'll help me reach it.
As many of you know, my sorority (Tri Delta) has an incredible relationship with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Since 1999, Tri Delta members have raised nearly $100 million for the kids of St. Jude. I had the honor of visiting the St. Jude campus in Memphis this July (see the picture above!) and heard from staff and patient families about how Tri Delta's tremendous support of St. Jude has enabled lifesaving work. My visit made me even prouder to support St. Jude, especially as the newly appointed president of the Boston Tri Delta Alumnae Chapter.
If you are able, it would mean a lot to me if you could donate to my chapter's Fundraiser for St. Jude. Every dollar donated will go directly to St. Jude. With your support, I can continue to live out Tri Delta's purpose. We help children live, scientists learn, and St. Jude lead in its mission of finding cures for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
I fundraise for St. Jude specifically in memory of Catherine Malatesta, my friend who died from cancer when she was only 16 years old. Her brave fight with childhood cancer forever inspires me to support cancer research and treatment. I also fundraise in memory of my grandmother, Marlene Jordahl, who died from cancer several years ago. My grandmother was a big supporter of St. Jude, and I'm proud to continue that support today.
Why support St. Jude?
- As Tri Delta women, we believe in assisting others in every possible way. The money we raise ensures that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- In an effort to boldly lead the way and spread our influence abroad, our support allows St. Jude to freely share the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
- And just as Tri Delta remains innovative in the way we support women to live, learn and lead -- with Purpose, for a lifetime, St. Jude continues to be a forefront leader in the research and treatment for childhood cancer. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
I hope you'll show your support by making a donation today.
Thank you for supporting me and the lifesaving work happening at St. Jude today. Let's cure childhood cancer. Together.
