Hi friends! It’s that time of year again!!! #TEAMJAYDE has signed up for the St. Jude Walk Run to End Childhood Cancer, and I need you to help me reach my fundraising goal.
You can support me by making a donation or by joining our team: walkrun.stjude.org/KGS
In August of 2014, my nine-year old cousin Jayde was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer. She had a tumor the size of an orange on the back of her brain. She endured an eleven hour brain surgery and officially became a St. Jude patient. She had 6 weeks of radiation and four rounds of chemotherapy. It was one of the hardest years of our lives and I can vividly remember so many raw, real, and painful memories of her treatment, but also many happy memories thanks to St. Jude. She is a warrior. The joy our patients find while fighting for their lives is truly inspiring and what led me to my career at ALSAC/St. Jude.
Without the hope that St. Jude gave our family, we would not be who we are today. That is why we want to give back and fundraise for the Hospital. St. Jude provides treatment, travel, housing, and food at no cost to the families. This is true, as we are a testament to this.
Without St. Jude, Jayde would not be the funny, beautiful, outgoing, 18 year old she is today. The reality is, without St. Jude she may not have seen her 10th birthday. Jayde has made so many friends since she started treatment and some of them have gained their angel wings. 1 in 5 children will still lose their battle to cancer and to me, that is unacceptable.
Please donate in honor of Jayde, her friends who have gained their angel wings, and the ones fighting for their lives right now at St. Jude. We won't stop until NO child dies in the dawn of life. #TeamJayde
