Some people leave a lasting impact on the world simply by being themselves. David was one of those people.

He was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. He was funny, incredibly smart, and one of the kindest people you could ever meet. His joy was contagious, and he had a way of loving people that made them feel seen, valued, and cared for. David was the person who loved everyone he met, and if you knew him, you knew just how special he was.

When David was diagnosed with a life threatening cancer, his response revealed the extraordinary heart he had. Rather than asking, "Why me?" he simply said, "I'm glad it was me instead of someone else." Even in the face of unimaginable uncertainty, David was thinking about others and wishing he could spare them from the pain he was experiencing.

Over the next several years, David fought with remarkable courage, resilience, and hope. He faced each challenge with bravery and positivity, inspiring everyone around him with his strength, his faith, and the way he continued to choose joy despite everything he was going through. He never allowed cancer to define who he was.

Cancer took away many moments David deserved, including the chance to walk across the stage at his high school graduation. But it could never take away the joy he brought to others, the love he shared so freely, or the example of selflessness he left behind.

Today, we continue to honor David's legacy by carrying forward the values he lived every day: kindness, compassion, courage, and a heart for others.

That is why we proudly walk and fundraise for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. While St. Jude was not part of David's treatment journey, their mission represents the hope we want to help provide for other children and families facing battles like the one David fought. No child should have to face cancer alone, and no family should have to carry the added burden of worrying about the cost of care while their child is fighting for their life.

Every dollar raised helps St. Jude continue providing lifesaving treatment, supporting families, and advancing groundbreaking research that brings hope to children battling cancer and other serious illnesses.

Through #TeamDavid, we hope to continue the legacy of a young man who always put others before himself. David showed us what it means to love deeply, live courageously, and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
