Amalia's Fuerza Fam

In June 2025, at just 2 years old our Amalia was diagnosed with Leukemia (B-ALL), and our worlds were flipped completely upside down.  Amalia is nearing an anniversary milestone of 1 full year of treatment and is several months into remission thanks to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.  From diagnosis, St. Jude has given Amalia the care she needs and has given us— as to countless other families— the hope, compassion, and strength to carry her through treatment. Thanks to St. Jude, Amalia is months into remission and currently in early maintenance.  Hope and faith have helped us make it past some of the most difficult parts of her treatment, and honestly some of the most difficult days of our lives as parents.

Amalia’s journey through treatment has been fueled by so much more than hope. It’s been love, patience, family, and community; but also professionalism, medicine, and science.  Cancer treatment and prognosis can only progress as much as science and research can, and this is where we need your help, our family and community.

This September, we’re walking in honor of Amalia’s journey and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. We’d love to count on you for any of the following:

1.  Join “Amalia’s Fuerza Fam!”

a. Register as a teammate and walker and join us on a family-friendly 5k walk on the riverfront.  Registration is free, and the walk ends with outdoor fun/ activities for the littles. (Virtual walker options available if you are not in Memphis!)

b. You can also register just as a teammate and fundraise for our team as well (with or without the walking). We’d love to have you on our team to raise funds with us! 

2.  Donate to our team through any of our teammates!

Can we count on you to make a donation or join our team?

Funds donated or raised within our team go directly to St. Jude in support of groundbreaking research that make treatment like Amalia’s possible and effective.  While these funds do not go to Amalia’s treatment or to us, they help us pay forward all the help Amalia has received in treatment and also helps ensure other families never receive a bill from St. Jude.  This means treatment, travel, housing, food, all covered so that other parents like us can focus on helping our child live. You can help us make a difference.
