Our family will be forever grateful for the work of the team at Saint Jude in the healing of our sweet niece Scout. In February 2018, when she was just 20 months old, Scout was diagnosed with glioblastoma. After failing her initial chemo in Austin, she was immediately referred to St. Jude. She began a medication trial, which unfortunately was not successful. She then was given an experimental radiation treatment, which allowed her tumor to be smashed! Thanks to the work of St. Jude and the grace of God, in July 2024, Scout was declared cancer free after five years showing no evidence of disease.
What you see about St. Jude on the TV commercials is true - no family pays a dime for any of the treatments at St. Jude, and donations from people like you are the reason this happens. In addition to walking the Las Vegas 5K, Team Scout?s Army - including me - will be traveling to Memphis for St. Jude Marathon Weekend in December 2025. I won?t be tackling a marathon - walking the 5K is more my speed - but I?m thrilled that Scout will be able to participate WITH our family AGAIN, this year and for years to come! As long as we are able, Scout?s Army will continue to fundraise and support St. Jude, for the gift of life they have given Scout.
Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was largely considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
Thank you for supporting me, and giving kids like Scout the opportunity to smash their cancers too! Anything you are able to give helps to make a big difference in the fight to end childhood cancer.
xx,
Scout?s Aunt Staci
