On Eagle's Wings

It’s hard to believe it has been 20 years since I lost my dear cousin JP to neuroblastoma. He was just 13. I was 10.

I still remember where I was when we got the call. I was at a soccer game, and we were told it was time to get to Pittsburgh quickly. We made it in time from Texas, but shortly after we arrived, my parents sat me and my siblings down and told us that JP was now in Heaven.

Even after all these years, his memory stays with me. The “cousin group chat” will never be complete. I continue to be inspired by not only Justin’s but also his sister’s strength. 

I believe that when we cannot understand God's plan, we must rely on our faith. Supporting causes that bring hope to families in their most difficult moments has become deeply meaningful to me. That is why I walk for St. Jude.

Their mission is powerful. No family ever receives a bill, and children fighting for their lives are given the best care possible. By walking and raising funds, I hope to honor JP’s memory and help bring light to other families facing childhood cancer.
