Hi friends, family, and strangers!
Last March, I visited the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, and saw their campus with a group of fraternity brothers. They are constantly improving their facilities to continue their research to cure cancer, make sure the cancer survival rate goes from 80% to 100%, and improve the day-to-day life for the patients themselves that stay there for some time with their families while getting treatment. Seeing what our donations go to in person makes it much sweeter to be apart of something bigger than yourself and contribute to saving a life.
As a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE), every year, we put on a week here at VT to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for kids battling cancer and other cancers life-threatening diseases. In 2018, TKE committed to raising 10 million dollars in 10 years to name the Bone Marrow Transplantation; Cellular Therapy Research Floor. My personal goal is set at $1000 to raise before next Wednesday; together, we can achieve that goal!
These kids at St. Jude never chose to be sick, and I could not imagine them losing their lives before they even begin to experience the world outside of a hospital room.
The smallest amount of donations can help in any way! Here are a few examples of ways you're donations will help.
$10: Help provide a new toy for hospital play areas or recreational areas at St. Jude housing facilities.
$36: Help provide a St. Jude family with meals for one day in the Kay Kafe, the St. Jude cafeteria.
$64: Help cover the cost of four platelet count tests.
$108: Help cover about two-thirds of the cost of one hour of physical therapy.
Thanks to donors like you, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food -- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
It would be greatly appreciated if you shared it to your friends and family; thank you!
Together we can help St. Jude make a global impact. Please consider donating to help us reach our goal!
