All my life I’ve been a person of service, whether it be giving my time or money to philanthropic causes. Upon entering college, I almost immediately found a way to continue giving back to others. My freshman year, I joined Tau Kappa Epsilon and through The Fraternity’s association with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital I had found a cause worth fighting for.
Having seen a number of family members go through the struggles that cancer brings with it, I thought I had heard every kind of cancer story. But when I learned about St. Jude’s cause I was blown away. I could never imagine having to deal with cancer as an adult, but as a child?! I knew St. Jude was a worthy cause to support.
Fast forward to now, and I feel that I have been slacking in supporting this cause since having graduated college. On top of that, I had let my own health fall into poor standing. In January, I began a fitness journey that changed my life, and have since taken my life by the reigns to selfishly get back into good health. While still working on myself, I know that I now have the time and mental fortitude to take on more challenges, one of which is to reinvigorate my support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
This year, I have set a goal to raise $5000 for the kids of St. Jude, but would love to aim even higher! To help me reach my goal for these kids, who are battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases, you can donate, share posts, comment, and spread awareness for this cause throughout your social media!
Now for the how: Each week, I will tally up all donations earned (Monday through Sunday Noon), and build a workout based on the raised dollar amount in repetitions of (an) exercise(s). Further, I will solicit different types of exercises through my Instagram Stories to help build the weekly workout session (which will be broadcasted through IG live Sunday evenings). For example, if I raise $200 in a given week, I would do 200 reps of solicited exercise(s) from IG Stories throughout the preceding week.
As mentioned before, please consider donating, sharing on your feed/in stories, commenting, etc. as every interaction helps spread funding and awareness for the kids of St. Jude! Thanks for helping me in #GettingFitFTK !
