In Memory of Alok Sood...
We have created this fundraising page in loving memory of my best friend and husband Alok Sood. Alok was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in Mar 2015. He underwent the rigorous treatment of chemo, surgery and radiation and courageously fought this terrible disease against all odds. However unfortunately, in Nov 2017, the cancer relapsed and had metastasized to his lungs. He continued his fight with the same strength and positivity, however he had an acute event in Oct 2018 that made any further treatment risky and even life threatening (ironic isn't it?). Even with so many advancements in science and technology, it's so disheartening to know that there still aren't any promising and safe treatment options for a lot of cancer types. Our Alok passed in his sleep on March 17, 2019.
Anyone who has known Alok or has met him even once, remembers him as a very kind-hearted guy with cheerful, positive nature, and a great sense of humor, and always willing to help. His emotional and mental strength to keep his illness aside and not let it affect him or anyone around him was unbelievable. He has been such a great inspiration to so many of us.
I am beyond grateful to have had such a gem of a person in my life, he's always been my strength and continues to be. He was an amazing father and the best buddy to our son. He was the best brother and a great friend one could ever have.
Alok loved kids and kids just adored him. This fundraising page is a little gesture to honor Alok's love for kids and his fight against cancer. We'd like to help St. Jude continue its effort to find cure for this disease and hope that no child or the family has to worry about money when it comes to the treatment and care.
