I am raising funds to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's lifesaving mission of finding cures for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and I need your help to reach my fundraising goal. My family's involvement started in 2001 when my brother-in-law Jerry Schmitt became a Memphis to Peoria runner. My son Jeffrey joined the Memphis run 2012 after two of his students became St Jude patients while he was student teaching in Monmouth. 2024 marks his 13th run and he and his wife Joella are all in on St. Jude.

Joella is chairing the 8:00 hour on the telethon and she has enlisted me to be on-stage, manning a phone. I asked my nephew Tim Schmitt (former Memphis runner) to join me.
How your donation helps:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. And we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of children.
Thank you for your support! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
