Hey Friends and Family,
It is that time of year to start raising money for St. Jude Research Hospital. I am alive today because of St. Jude. I was diagnosed in December of 2004 with Ewings Sarcoma, my life changed forever. It was a moment filled with fear and uncertainty, not just for me, but for my family as well. St. Jude, for me, became more than a hospital - it became a beacon of hope, a place of healing, and a symbol of unwavering support. In December 2005, I achieved remission. I have remained in remission since and will celebrate 19 years CANCER-FREE in December.
My St. Jude journey did not stop there and I want to shed light on a crucial aspect of my journey, one that underscores St. Jude's unwavering commitment to the well-being of their patients and the advancement of medical science. They continue to be an integral part of my life through the St. Jude Life Study. This study is an ongoing research initiative that follows the lives of St. Jude patients long after their treatment has ended. It's a commitment to understanding the long-term effects of cancer and its treatments, as well as the overall health and well-being of survivors.
In sharing this part of my journey, I want to emphasize the importance of research in the fight against childhood cancer. All brings us closer to a cure.
I set out to raise $2,000 to represent 20 years since my original diagnosis. Please give what you can and know that no amount is too small.
How your donation helps:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. And we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of children.
Thank you for your support! Together we can help St. Jude change the world.
With Love,
Michelle Hayes
