Even though I've never been a patient, cancer has touched my life. My dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was eight years old. In high school I also had a best friend who was fighting that battle. Fortunately, I got to watch both win that battle. Seeing the effects first hand is something that will change you for life. It made me passionate about fundraising and raising awareness. My friend and my dad are the reason I'm running. It's working towards the goal of no one having to go through the pain that they went through.

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened 60 years ago— but there is still work to be done.
