For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Madison Velpel and I’m 16 years old. If you do know me, you probably remember me as the little girl who has been the ”cheerleader” for the past 12 years at every one of the runs. My dad, Andy Velpel, has been running the Washington to Peoria run since I was 4 years old and this year I am finally old enough to run with him which is pretty cool.
(For all of my Texas people who don’t know much about this organization, this run is an amazing cause and helps so many children fighting childhood cancer!)
St. Jude has had a huge impact on my life in many ways. When I was in 1st grade, my best friend was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and had to spend a lot of time at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Because of St. Jude, she was able to beat it and to this day, even after me moving to Texas, we are still so close and talk very often. This helped me figure out what I wanted to do when I got older and I’ve decided on going to nursing school and becoming an oncologist nurse at St. Jude in Memphis as well.
Please help me reach my goal of $1000. No donation is too small & prayers are always welcomed!!
