Hey friends Christina here. So I did a thing.... I have decided after years of sitting on the sidelines and cheering my friends and family on from afar to participate in this years Metamora to Peoria St. Jude Run. I am sure many of you will chuckle reading this and trust me, when I picture myself running I laugh too, but all jokes aside let me explain “WHY” I am running. As the mother of 3 children I have no idea what I would do if any of my kiddos was diagnosed with cancer. Just thinking about the very real possibility creates a massive lump in my throat and literally brings me to tears. Having to deal with those emotions while staying strong for your baby seems impossible by itself let alone while dealing with insurance, logistics, and endless bills. Parents shouldn’t have to focus on anything except their child’s life. That is why I am running.
Thanks to generous donors:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer, and neither will I. Will you support me and consider making a donation?
