They are the words no parent ever wants to hear… your child has cancer. Hunter was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma lung cancer in December 2021 at OSF Children’s Hospital in Peoria. The day after Christmas we traveled to St Jude in Memphis with so many unknowns and questions, yet trusting God was with us and had a plan. We met with the experts at St Jude and began our cancer journey with an aggressive plan to fight an aggressive and rare cancer.
Hunter is receiving great care at St Jude and now is through his first rounds of chemo treatments, has had major surgery, completed his radiation treatments, and is in his last phase of chemo treatments. We continue to hold God’s hand tightly and hope and pray for complete healing.
One of Hunter’s favorite verses is Joshua 1:9. He was able to share it at his EMS 8th grade graduation and how God is giving him strength and courage during his fight with cancer.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Thank you for your support of Hunter and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital!
Why we support St. Jude:
St. Jude Runs is more than a run — we are going the distance to support the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: Finding cures. Saving children.®
Every dollar makes an impact, and we need your help to reach our goal! Can we count on your donation to help the kids of St. Jude?
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened 60 years ago— but there is still work to be done.
St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer, and neither will we. Will you support us by making a donation today?
Let’s cross the finish line together!
