Family & Friends,
Hello all. Thepurpose of my email is to ask for your consideration to donate to St.Jude. I am committed to raising money for this great cause as I am partof this year's team for the St. Jude Peoria Run. Please help me reach my fundraisinggoal for the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, who are battlingcancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Why am I committed tothis cause? There are TWO reasons.
The first is to honormy niece Catie who was a St. Jude patient from age 6-9. Itwas incredible to witness the medical, financial and emotional support shereceived throughout her treatment. From doctors and nurses, to lab techsand office staff, all were committed to the same mission, helping kids beatcancer. And they always made her feel special, loved and caredfor. For that you cannot put a price. But the patient supportwas just the beginning. The patient family is also brought into theSt. Jude experience receiving the same support as the patient. I havebeen able to witness that aspect through my brother, his wife and their otherkids. I am happy to report Catie has been cancer free sinceher treatment ended at age 9 and is now almost 18 years old, a Senior in high school and doing very well. Even with thepassage of time she continues to receive support and medical reviews from St.Jude. The support and interaction does not end with the formaltreatment plan. Rather it continues long after and continues to supportnot only the patient, but the family as well. But of course allthis support requires monetary donations from generous persons who believe inthe mission. I believe and want to honor her, my brother, sister-in-lawand their kids by supporting this wonderful cause.
The second reason is that thanksto generous donors:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
St. Jude won't stopuntil no child dies from cancer. It is a wonderful goal. Together WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I realize we all haveour passions and charities to which we donate. I appreciate yourconsideration and donation in support of my niece, her family and all the St.Jude patients and families past, present and future. May you, yourfamilies and loved ones be blessed daily. Thank you very much!
