Family & Friends,
Hello all. The purpose of my email is to ask for your consideration to donate to St. Jude. I am committed to raising money for this great cause as I am part of this year's team for the St. Jude Peoria Run. Please help me reach my fundraising goal for the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, who are battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Why am I committed to this cause? There are TWO reasons.
The first is to honor my niece Catie who was a St. Jude patient from age 6-9. It was incredible to witness the medical, financial and emotional support she received throughout her treatment. From doctors and nurses, to lab techs and office staff, all were committed to the same mission, helping kids beat cancer. And they always made her feel special, loved and cared for. For that you cannot put a price. But the patient support was just the beginning. The patient family is also brought into the St. Jude experience receiving the same support as the patient. I have been able to witness that aspect through my brother, his wife and their other kids. I am happy to report Catie has been cancer free since her treatment ended at age 9 and is now almost 17 years old and a junior in high school and doing very well. Even with the passage of time she continues to receive support and medical reviews from St. Jude. The support and interaction does not end with the formal treatment plan. Rather it continues long after and continues to support not only the patient, but the family as well. But of course all this support requires monetary donations from generous persons who believe in the mission. I believe and want to honor her, my brother, sister-in-law and their kids by supporting this wonderful cause.
The second reason is that thanks to generous donors:
• Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
• Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.
St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer. It is a wonderful goal. Together we can make it happen.
I realize we all have our passions and charities to which we donate. I appreciate your consideration and donation in support of my niece, her family and all the St. Jude patients and families past, present and future. May you, your families and loved ones be blessed daily. Thank you very much!
