The Best Day of the Year
As you begin reading this letter, I want you to think about,”what is cancer”? If you look cancer up in the dictionary, cancer is a disease in which some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. There are more than two hundred types of cancer. Each cancer is caused by a different set of mutations and as the tumor grows more mutations accumulate. As doctors come up with medications for cancer patients, the medication may or may not work since every tumor has its own individual set of mutations. As I am writing this letter, I cannot stop thinking that there has to be a way to help find a cure for cancer and I will tell you, there is.
For eighteen years, I have helped the doctors at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital get one step closer to finding a cure for cancer by participating in the St. Jude Run and raising money. You can help out too by making a donation towards my run goal.
In order for me to be able to participate in the Eureka to Peoria St. Jude Run, I need to raise $1,000.00. All the money I raise goes directly to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help the doctors find a cure for cancer.
The St. Jude Run IS “the best day of the year”. Runners all come together for one cause, to raise money for the children of St. Jude. Since the St. Jude Run started in 1982, it has raised over $82,172,076. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to our own finish line: one that ensures that ‘no child should die in the dawn of life.’
The St. Jude Run takes place on July 20, 2024. If you would like to make a donation, I will need the donations by July 19, 2024. If you would like to write a check, checks can be made out to St. Jude Runs.
You can also make a donation through my personal donation page:

Thank you in advance for your support. I could not continue running for St. Jude each year without you:)
Sincerely Your St. Jude Runner,
