Why I support St. Jude:
St. Jude means the world to my family, and countless others. For those returning, you know why I run- and why I have now dedicated a full week to run in the blistering heat of summer for the past 16 years. For those of you new to my story, I welcome you and appreciate any and all support.
My journey with St. Jude began nearly 18 years ago when my (at the time) baby sister was diagnosed with a Clival Chordoma at the age of 6 months. This was an extremely rare cancer, and she was the youngest diagnosed case with no known treatments. St. Jude not only took on the challenge of treating such a rare cancer, but found a way to navigate this to the point of the tumor ceasing to exist by the age of three.
In the nearly three years of treatment, I witnessed the struggles of chemo, the countless injections required, and dealt with an entire family worrying about the future for my sister. But I also witnessed the amazing care provided to my sister, and the life ling commitment that St. Jude makes to not only their patients, but their families. This commitment from St. Jude has always inspired me to do all that I can to support their mission is research so that no "child should die in the dawn of life".
St. Jude has made a lasting impact on my family's life- a cancer survivor, a sibling who became a nurse, and another sibling who works in Healthcare leadership. (and for those who think I am a nurse, I am not that sibling...).
I am asking for your support in my dedication to St. Jude by assisting me raise $10,000 for the children of St. Jude, so that one day when a family is told their child has cancer, they can live worry-free and know that there are answers. I'll do the hard part- run from Memphis to Peoria, but I need your help!
