Usually I start my fundraising with why I run for St. Jude. However, this is not your typical year. I want to lead off with HOW St. Jude has affected me personally. St. Jude has been a part of my life since the age of 15. Not as a patient, but as a sibling. From the moment my sister started her treatment at St. Jude, I knew this was a special place. Not only are they providing life-saving treatment for children, but they do so in a way that makes each and every child who enters their doors feel safe and cared for. This was immediately obvious, and inspired me to bring that same safety and experience to others in healthcare.
Fast forward to the moment I graduated college, I started working in clinics in a non-clinical role. While I wouldn't say this was a lucrative job, I always made it my goal to treat every patient with respect and make every attempt to make them feel safe and have a positive experience. This is in large part to St. Jude and the way they treated not only my ssiter, but my entire family. This passion led me to seek a Masters in Health Administration, and my primary focus for the entire 3 years was patient experience. This led to me creating, researching and defending my thesis solely based on patient experience.
Upon successfully completing this program, I am happy to say that I now get the pleasure to work in a Pediatric Clinic as a Clinic Manager in which I can use the passion that St. Jude has instilled in me to ensure that children can feel safe while in the clinic, and have an overall positive experience.
While this year's "run" will not be the same, the goal of it is: to raise money for St. Jude. It is with support from you that they can continue to operate and allow their patients to never receive a bill. While 2020 is not they year we expected, neither are the words "your child has cancer". Please join me to support not only the current children of St. Jude, but for the future of Pediatric Cancer overall.
If online donations are not your thing, please feel free to reach out to me for my address, or other modes of donation. I think you for your continued support throughout the years.
