Dear Friends and Family,
It is again time to start planning for the St Jude Run, that special time of year when we, against all common sense, lace up our sneaks, join a group of friends and run, relay style 186 miles from St Louis, MO to Peoria, IL in the middle of the summer! Eric and I will be running together again this year, my seventh year and Eric's fifth. As Olivia said, "The More the Merrier!"
This event is, of course, to support the great work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You probably know why we support St. Jude. Our daughter Olivia Mackenzie was 6 when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We were frightened, confused and quite literally at a loss. We found our way to St. Jude and we will always be grateful. The care Olivia received was amazing. Her medical needs as well as food, lodging and transportation were provided at no cost to us. They took care of everything so Eric and I could focus on caring for our little girl.
I always wish the end of this story was better, I wish she was going to be running with us. She would turn 25 this summer and I wonder what she would be like… maybe tall and athletic, maybe petite and studious. I know she would be funny and kind. She died when she was 7 years old, a second grader still too young to cross the street alone. So in an attempt to honor our love for Olivia and our commitment to St. Jude Hospital, we will run. We will run for love and for hope, for our girl and for so many others.
We are asking for your help by making a donation. Any amount helps and 100% of the money raised will go the hospital. We would also appreciate your prayers, love and good wishes!
Tameria and Eric
