Mary brought her "Sparkle" into the lives of those she loved. We miss her EVERY day! What she taught us was to throw everything you've got into those things you feel strongly about. I remember when she told us about her new college sorority's philanthropy fundraiser. ..."And, Mama, I'm going to raise the most money!" And she did. Even the St. Jude/TriDelta Fundraiser the month of her passing raised the most of any sorority at Florida Gulf Coast University. Despite the sorority being on an activity suspension, the TriDelta girls ran the event in 2014 under Mary's name and had the University's President walking for Mary to raise money for St. Jude.
Thanks to the blessing of Emma Smith, Mary's "twin" sorority sister and team captain, the subsequent "Mary" events moved to the home of St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis and has been raising money for St. Jude every year as "Team Mary Caitlin Albertson" at the Memphis St. Jude Marathon Weekend. Mary's top fundraiser has always been her Dad, Miles Albertson.
This year we hope to raise even MORE for the Kids at St. Jude. The event has a special meaning to Mary's family this year as it falls on the weekend of Mary's 26th birthday. Although another family event will keep Emma's family out of the running for the first time this year, we have BOTH Mary's sisters and LOTS of Mary's high school and college friends making the trip to support the Kids and remember our "Sparkling" Mary.
