I am a St. Jude Hero! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. I am training to cross the finish line on May 29 at the Buffalo Marathon (my first ever marathon!) and with your donation, we can cross the fundraising finish line together -- because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
We had a family friend lose her son at just 5 years old to leukemia, and watching a family go through the hardship of having a sick kid, being strong for them even when you want to cry...that changes you. Nobody should have to go through that.
Our family friend's son fought a hard battle with his cancer for almost his entire life, and I want to do everything I can to make sure no family and no child ever has to go through that kind of pain again.
Over the years, I've heard cancer described as its own kind of "marathon" because you can't look at the finish line. You never know what the end will turn out like, so you have to take things day by day, moment by moment, step by step, right after left. I'm running this marathon so no kid ever has to fight the "marathon" of cancer again.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
