I’ve decided to enter the 2022 St Jude Rock n Roll Half Marathon this April and do my part in raising some money to help the families that are facing a cruel giant as they and their brave kiddos fight cancer. I eventually want to run a the full marathon, but am being realistic about my long distance running abilities and am focusing on running the half which is 13.1 miles. I’m taking the training very seriously and am inspired by the courage of these young warriors.
I am already a financial supporter and prayer partner of the St Jude children’s hospital. They’re a trustworthy organization that really does want to cure childhood cancer. If you didn’t know, families do not receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. The treatments invented at St Jude have pushed the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened 50 years ago. They share their newest discoveries on beating cancer with scientists and doctors demonstrating it’s truly about getting kids healthy.
So, my goal is $1000. I’ve chosen not to utilize any fundraising money towards offsetting my cost to register for the race so your donation goes directly to the kids and their families. Thank you in advance if you choose to partner with me in reaching this goal.
I pledge to you that I’ll do my part to stay disciplined in my training and nutrition so that I finish strong for these brave little souls.
And by the way, the fight against childhood cancer doesn’t finish at this finish line; so if you feel inspired please consider a continuation of monthly support to the organization or even running your own race as a St. Jude Hero!
