Hello! My friends Kylie, Kimberly and I are running the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon for a bigger purpose by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. We have chosen this organization for many reasons including:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
A little backstory of us: We are on our high school cross country team and are currently juniors. When we run the race, we will be seniors. We were trying to think of ideas of how we could make a big impact before high school ended and one of us suggested, "Let's run a marathon. Why not? It will keep us motivated to run year-round anyways." From there, the choice was made to create a fundraising team for a worthy cause.
We are training together in order to cross the finish line on race day, October 10, 2021. With your donations we can all cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer. Thank you in advance to anyone who donates. We are extremely grateful for your generosity and kindness.
Donate today to help us reach our goals. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
