When I ran my first half marathon in 2018, it was to prove to myself that I was totally recovered from my LCL tear earlier that year. My miles had meaning. Each one I ran, in training, then in the actual race, was getting me closer to that goal. Last spring, I ran the Rock and Roll half, and this year, as I get ready to run it again, I want these miles to have meaning too. Running as a St Jude’s hero will allow me to do that. Each donation made to St. Jude’s will help them reach their goal of finding a cure for childhood cancer. This is something that I care deeply about, and here are some reasons why:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Judes. Not one for treatment, for travel, for housing, or for food. Because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Since they opened more than 50 years ago, treatments invented at St Jude have helped move the childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to over 80%. Right now they are working to push that survival rate to 90%, and they’re not going to stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St Jude shares the discoveries they make. Every child saved at St. Jude means that means that doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to help save thousands more children.
Please consider donating today to help me reach my fundraising goal! And I could talk about St Judes forever so please reach out with any questions, or if you want more information!
Thank you so much.
