Hello friends and family!
On March 28th, I will be running the DC Rock N' Roll Half Marathon (13.1 Miles!) to raise money for an AMAZING cause - St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital!! In the past I have run races for my own health and goals, but I've come to know the amazing work that the hospital does, so this time I have chosen to run for the kids and families at St. Jude's. (Which is getting me through some rough long runs!!) I've been training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
Here are just a few of the AWESOME things I have learned about St. Jude's:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
I am SUPER excited to run this race to end childhood cancer and I can't wait to cross the finish line and know that through your support, we have helped families in great need. Please help me raise money for a truly worthy and honorable cause, every dollar helps! Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
Thank you for all your support, wishes and prayers!!
P.S. I'm about half way through my training - just ran six miles this past weekend!! Suggestions for good (dairy free) pasta dishes for nights before long runs would be greatly appreciated :)
