I wanted to make my third marathon more meaningful than just training and running 26.2 miles for a free bagel.
While I train for Rock n Roll DC, I will be fundraising for St. Jude, as I will be running with their team as a St. Jude Hero.
In college as philanthropy chair of my sorority I got to meet children and their families who were firsthand experiencing pediatric cancer, and bringing a smile to their faces despite difficult times meant so much to me.
Quick facts from St. Jude:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more.
Even if your donation is $5, it will go toward helping a family in need.
Let’s stop pediatric cancer one mile at a time!
