One year ago (after having a not so fun seizure and being pulled out of my bed by some hunky firefighters, and rushed to the emergency room by some amazing paramedics), some incredibly brilliant humans discovered that this (and previous seizures) was due to a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (no worries I will never learn how to prounouce this either). So let's call it what it is, a PXA haha.
This tumor most commonly occurs in children, very rarely in adults. I found it ironic that a tumor diagnosed with children found itself into my brain (because my favorite kinds of humans and my life passion are children). These are either benign or malignant, and I was one of those lucky humans with a benign little sucker.
It hit me recently that this past year has been weird, I have been ignoring everything, not thinking about it, going on with my life, and in turn being selfish and not thinking about others suffering from this (especially the amount of children who have been diagnosed with a malignant tumor, or a PXA that has regrown).
Through being pushed to sign up by my roommate Laura for the New Orleans RockNRoll Half Marathon, I realized there was an opportunity to raise money for St. Jude's and the Children's Tumor Foundation.
I would love if you joined me in the fundraiser to support these precious kiddos (and their families) in donating any amount for brain tumor research! The link is attached, and I am looking forward to running for these munchkins, even if it's a 22 minute mile :)
Thank you so much and I will see you at the finish line!!!
