Throughout my (very) short time as a new nurse, I have come across countless patient's and families I wished I could do more for. My first time caring for a child with an illness they did not ask for, I had never felt more helpless. I felt that I could never do enough in giving them the care that they deserve - and even more, the cure they deserve.
I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families at St. Jude. I am training to cross the finish line on race day and ask that you help me in reaching my goal of $500 so I can cross with a purpose.
By donating to this cause, you helping to ensure that St. Jude can continue to provide kids and families the care that they need during what is probably the hardest obstacle of their lives.
Some of these things include:
- Ensuring families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Research. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- Freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues. Any little bit helps!
