I am a St. Jude Hero! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the kids and families.
My personal plea: Shortly after Hurricane Katrinamy cousin's home at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans, she felt a lump on her then 1 year old child. For the next five years we did not see them because her son was undergoing extensive treatment and could not mix with the general population. She was a teacher by training and home-schooled her own children during this time. Without St. Jude Benjamin may not have become the sweet, happy, baseball playing freshman that he is today. Everyone knows someone that has been impacted by cancer and to support an organization dedicated to childhood cancer fits into our mission as educators to bottom-line help children. Last year I was inspired by CENLA Runners in Alexandria who raised over $50,000 for St.Jude via this same road race. Personally, I work with some of the best individuals, best teachers and we can do this too!
My personal commitment: Gold-Level St. Jude Hero Program 10k with a personal commitment to raise or fund $3,000.
5-STAR TEACHERS TEAM GOAL: Encourage at least 30 Teachers to participate and Raise at least $50,000 for St. Jude Hospital.
I am training to cross the finish line on race day and with your donation we can cross the fundraising finish line together because the money you donate helps find a cure for childhood cancer.
Did you know:
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to end childhood cancer continues.
